Secret Music News, July 2017

Hi -

  Somehow I've made it through 30 years at WVKR-FM. Not sure how I managed
to pull the wool over their eyes for this long, but I'm not complaining. I don't know
if I've got another 30 years in me, but I'm not done yet. Seriously folks,
I'm humbled and flattered that I've made it this far, and the response to
my 30th anniversary show has been overwhelming. The premise was simple:
musicians were to send me unreleased music that I could use on the show.
And rather than target specific artists, I made an open call. I got
responses from all over the world, as well as from several here in the
Hudson Valley. I got responses from people I hadn't heard from in ages,
and even a couple I'd never heard of before (which isn't easy). I had way
more music than could possibly fit in one 3 hour show. And to top it off,
Pete Calandra came up and played some new pieces he'd been working on.
Funny how sometimes the simplest ideas turn out to be the best. I'm
eternally grateful to all the artists who provided me with music for the
show, and special thanks to Pete for coming up to be a part of the
festivities.

  I'm looking for artists who are interested in coming to the station some
Sunday morning for a live interview/performance. I've been a bit lax of late, but I'd like to
change that. If you're in the area or passing through, let me know and
we'll figure something out.

  Time hasn't especially been my friend for a while, but things seem to be
getting better on that front. And I realize that I've also been lax in asking people for new
music to play. Thanks very muchly to those of you that have been sending
me CD's or downloads. But there are others who have new music that I'm
interested in. I'll reach out to some of you individually soon, but if
you've got something new, please let me know. CD's and downloads are fine
with me, whichever is easier for you.
